Welcome to the Allied Health Job Shadowing Program page. The program is operated by the Clinical Education department and offers up to 20 hours observation time with various career tracks within our healthcare system. Job shadowing opportunities are approved on a case-by-case basis. We will make every effort to accommodate you as we have space and staff available. Job shadowing candidates must be sixteen or older. The Emergency Departments, Surgery and Intensive Care Units cannot accommodate individuals under the age of eighteen. Applicants must be 18 AND a high school graduate to shadow in any part of Children’s Hospital.
To qualify for Job Shadowing, you must:
- Complete the Job Shadowing Application
- Provide documentation of MMR and Varicella (chickenpox) immunization
- Provide documentation of a negative TB skin test or negative chest x-ray within the last 12 months
- Provide documentation of flu vaccine if shadowing October through March
Physician shadowing is by personal invitation only, which will be verified with the physician.
The Job Shadowing application and required health records must be submitted at least THREE weeks prior to the desired start date to allow for coordinator and clinical department review. Records should be emailed to: jobshadowing@erlanger.org
Upon coordinator and departmental approval, you will be contacted to complete Code of Conduct and Confidentiality training online.
Job Shadowing applicants may not enter a clinical area until all paperwork is complete and an identification badge is issued by the Human Resources Department.
