Orthopaedics Daniel H. Doty, MD

About / Overview

Dr. Doty was born and raised in the small town of Rogersville in northeast Tennessee and from an early age had an interest in medicine as his great grandfather served as a physician in east Tennessee during the early 1900's. His grandfather went on to practice as a general surgeon, his father as a veterinarian, and most recently his brother as an orthopaedic surgeon.

He attended Carson Newman University in Jefferson City, TN where I graduated suma cum laude and was awarded the most outstanding graduate in biology. He then attended medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine where he graduated with the faculty medal for academic achievement and was elected as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Doty went on to train in orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee/ Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga and was elected to attend the American Orthopaedic Association resident leadership meeting by my faculty and peers. It was during residency that he met and married his wonderful wife.  After residency, he moved to Philadelphia to complete a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

In his off time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family, biking, and reading.
