Jim Coleman Jr.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Jim Coleman Jr. serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Erlanger Health System. Jim is a national leader in the hospital industry, having served as a chief executive in both for profit and non-profit systems for over 25 years. Prior to joining Erlanger, Coleman was President and CEO of Alliant Management Services, a multi-state hospital management company based in Louisville, Ky. He has also served as Regional Senior VP for a hospital management firm based in Dallas, Texas, Chief Operating Officer for HCA’s Parkridge Health System in Chattanooga, Tenn., as well as, senior positions with other community hospital systems. During his career, Coleman has worked with hospitals in Louisiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Alabama. He has significant experience in governance and leadership development, along with hospital operations, finance, quality and market strategy.
Originally from Cleveland, Tenn., Coleman has a Bachelor’s of Science and Masters in Business Administration with a focus in finance from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In 2019, he was appointed to serve as a Trustee for the Erlanger board where he served as both Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee and then Chairman of the Board until accepting his current leadership position.
Coleman started his hospital career at Erlanger as a respiratory therapist. As part of the Erlanger team once more, he is focused on working to secure Erlanger Health System’s future for many years to come.
