Residencies and Fellowships

Every year, about 200 physicians receive training at Erlanger through accredited residency and fellowship programs. These programs are sponsored by The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Medicine - Chattanooga, primarily based with the college's major affiliated clinical partner, Erlanger Health System.

Medical Education

Through the efforts of local physicians appointed to the university faculty, UTHSC Chattanooga provides education not only for the residents training at Erlanger, but also for medical students and practicing physicians. UTHSC Chattanooga also offers continuing medical education for physicians already in practice.

Hundreds of nursing students and other aspiring allied health professionals train at Erlanger, as well. On any given week, you'll find an average of 185 students at Erlanger, representing 114 different clinical training programs. In the past year, 236 medical students from accredited medical schools across the country as well as UT physician assistant students participated in clinical rotations (hands-on experience with patients) at Erlanger.
